Experience
Intel
Research Seattle, Seattle, WA
Ubiquitous Computing Research Intern designing
and evaluating an ambient display intended to provide
details about an elder living in a "smart home" to those
contributing significantly to his/her care. Designed a
testable prototype, an accompanying Web application, and
developed a common server-side system architecture. Moderated
interviews, roundtables, and Wizard of Oz field study,
and summarized findings. Conducted in-field and in-lab
user studies using a variety of techniques (questionnaires,
card sorting, audio, video, lo-fi and hi-fi prototyping)
to target relevant issues and determine application feasibility.
Fulfilled arduous recruiting needs within the geriatric
healthcare community and prepared screeners for outsourced
recruiting. Managed U. Washington undergraduates on project
gathering qualitative data, designing system architecture,
and iterating user interfaces. Developed and revised project
budget.
